Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is the Japanese word for Universal Life Force. Rei for spiritual or universal, and Ki for life force, or energy, which flows in and around all of us.

In the West, Reiki has generally come to mean a way of treating others, in the form of laying-on of hands. However, it was first taught by Mikao Usui, the originator of Reiki, as a spiritual path and a method of self-healing. Later on, it was developed to include treating others in its present form.

During a Reiki session, the practitioner channels this pure ‘chi’ energy through their hands to you, accelerating your natural ability to heal yourself, physically or mentally, or regain a state of balance. Reiki is an “intelligent energy” and will go where it is needed. It is about enabling change

You remain fully clothed throughout the treatment and it can be taken lying down on a couch or seated in a chair.

Reiki is a safe, natural, gentle and non-invasive method of relaxation and healing.  Treatments can also enable you to achieve a clarity of mind which may help you  on to the next step on the journey of your life.

It is suitable for absolutely everyone who wants it, and can be used alongside conventional medicine as well as other complementary therapies, for example, EFT  ( Emotional Freedom Technique) or self-help techniques.

Reiki practitioners endeavour to live their lives by following Mikao Usui’s  precepts:-

The secret art of inviting happiness

The miraculous medicine of all diseases

Just for today,

Do not anger,

Do not worry,

Be humble,

Be honest ( in all your dealings with other people),

Be compassionate to yourself and others.

You can find out more about this by deepening your experience of Reiki through taking a course – see the page dedicated to Reiki courses.
